Title:En Garde Avant Garde
This videomapping artwork explores a vibrant mix of the styles of early 20th-century artists influenced by the emergence of Japanese prints in the West. Through a dynamic play of brushstrokes, textures, and color, “En Garde Avant Garde” presents a mirrored reflection of different cultures, capturing the encounter between traditional Japanese aesthetics and modern Western art movements. Marcel Proust, who included clear references to Japanese prints in his work, resonates deeply with this theme: “The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” The result is a captivating and provocative visual experience that highlights intercultural dialogue and artistic evolution.
