One of the world’s largest projections mapping international competition originating from Japan will have a special exhibition from November 7th to 10th!

~ 4 days to experience the changes and evolution of the turbulent 4 years that began with the COVID-19 pandemic! ~

A special exhibition will be held, gathering the winning and invited works from the past 4 years of the 1minute Projection Mapping Competition (hereinafter referred to as the “International Competition”), which concluded its 12th competition in September this year with great success.
The world’s best projection mapping works will be screened again at the Meijijingu Gaien Memorial Picture Gallery for 4 days from Thursday, November 7th to Sunday, November 10th, 2024. During the “TOKYO LIGHTS 2024 NOVEMBER PARTY”, they will be projected all at once as “Projection Mapping Special Exhibition – Highlights of All Award-Winning and Invited Works from the past 4 Years”. This international competition is one of the world’s largest international projection mapping competitions, originating in Japan and boasting a long history since 2012, and has a history of 4 years at the current venue, the Meijijingu Gaien Memorial Picture Gallery.

During this time, many things have occurred, including the coronavirus pandemic, conflicts and divisions around the world, natural disasters, and technological innovations such as AI. During these turbulent 4 years, works were produced with the theme of each year: “HOPE” in 2021, “LIFE” in 2022, “LINK” in 2023, and “MIRROR” in 2024, and were created with the global trends and the strong feelings of the creators. As a highlight, all the winning works, including the Grand Prix winners from 2021 to 2024, as well as invited works by world-class creators, will be screened at once. This is a rare opportunity to see the world’s best projection mapping works, which seem to condense the time and evolution of these 4 years.

This international competition has been planned and held by the Projection Mapping Association of Japan (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Ishita Michiyuki) since 2012, and has been held for 4 years since 2021 as the main content of Tokyo’s new light festival “TOKYO LIGHTS”. Please see the event overview for information on the screening program and ticket purchases.
