This Winners' Exhibition was a once-in-a-lifetime visual art spectacle featuring the ten Grand Prix winners from the inaugural to the tenth editions of the world's largest international projection mapping competition, the '1minute Projection Mapping Competition' (hereinafter referred to as the International Competition). It was held as the main content of TOKYO LIGHTS 2023 Nov.BLUE.

On the second and third days, amidst the crisp, clear air, visitors were captivated throughout by the diverse array of high-quality works displayed within the historic, monumental Shōtoku Memorial Art Museum—works that could be described as fantastical, colorful, avant-garde, and more.
The opening night was held under cold rain, but the combination of projection mapping with the project's first-ever use of lasers and moving lights created an even more fantastical effect. Regular attendees who come every time remarked, "I'm glad I came even in the rain!"

This international competition, held for over a decade, has significantly influenced the advancement of projection mapping not only in Southeast Asia but worldwide. I am deeply grateful to have participated. This time, the building was challenging, and combining it with lasers and moving lights was a first for us—this experience was pure creativity. Thanks to this, we can now challenge ourselves with even more new things in the future. Thank you! ─ Sembilan Matahari│Indonesia

Q. It was the 10th anniversary winner's exhibition at the international tournament. How did it feel after it was over?
It was a truly remarkable exhibition that allowed me to feel the history of projection mapping. I could sense the history and evolution this international competition has built over more than a decade, along with the passion of the creators behind it. After seeing it, I felt a surge of emotion welling up inside me. It was a deeply moving and wonderful show.
Q. The lasers and moving lights were incredibly powerful. How did you find them as projection mapping expressions?
It was truly excellent. While the use of lasers and moving lights was a first for this event, they complemented the projection mapping exceptionally well, providing a wonderful opportunity to expand the creators' expressive range. We sincerely hope that all creators and artists will continue to produce innovative ideas unlike anything seen before.
Q. Please tell us about your future outlook.
From the dawn of projection mapping to the present day, we've seen not only improvements in equipment performance but also the emergence of new technologies and expressive methods, such as AI-generated content. And in the future, we may see new technologies we can't even imagine yet. I believe artistic expression should always evolve, so at this international competition too, we aim to adapt to the times, embrace new technologies, and constantly evolve alongside creators and artists.
