One minute & Production Theme

This competition invites creators to compete through short works ranging from 1:00 to 1:59 minutes. Within this brief duration, participants are challenged to showcase their technical skill, artistic individuality, and the ability to deliver new experiences and emotional impact to both the audience and the jury.

We will create an experience of expression, condensed individuality, and sophistication that can be pushed to the limit because it is short, rather than long content. For the viewer, this will be one of the world's largest and most pinnacle projection mapping experiences, where high-level and unique works from around the world can be seen all at once.
In addition, while it is not easy to produce high-resolution video for a long time, the short time frame makes it easy for many creators to take on the challenge.

In addition, each time a production theme is established in response to the current of the times, and participants are asked to create their work while designing concepts and formulating questions within that theme. The range of works varies depending on the time, the country, and the situation of the creator, resulting in an extremely diverse and stimulating collection of expressions.

History of the Competition

This competition was launched in 2012 (at the dawn of projection mapping in Japan) in a small town in Kanagawa Prefecture. At that time, even people in the visual media industry were still not sure what this expression was? What kind of future could it have? In a time when there was a lack of information on all kinds of topics, the event was launched with the aim of expanding questions and possibilities. Since then, the festival has been held continuously for more than 13 years, making it the oldest and most continuous international festival of its kind in the world.
The first competition started with 19 creators from 5 countries. Since the 4th edition in 2015, we have changed the venue and the buildings in which we project to keep and enhance the motivation of many creators.

Opportunities for projection mapping on large buildings are limited, and it has been impossible for individuals to take on the challenge. This competition has opened up the opportunity for many creators to take on the challenge of projection mapping, and through their production and experience, has produced the people who will lead the future.
In addition, high-quality 2D and 3D video production templates are produced and distributed, eliminating the need for time-consuming advance preparation work and allowing creators who are trying projection mapping expression for the first time to experience a production flow that is full of learning opportunities.
As the cradle of projection mapping, we have welcomed many creators and produced them in the world, and the winners, including the winner of the competition, are now active in the world scene.
