2026.5.20
We would like to introduce the two MCs who will enliven the International Competition Award Ceremony.
■ Tetsuya Bessho
He made his Hollywood debut in Crisis 2050 in 1990 and has since been active internationally as a member of the Screen Actors Guild, working in both film and theater. In 1999, he founded the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia, one of Asia’s leading international short film festivals, and received a commendation from the Commissioner for Cultural Affairs. He has also served as a Visit Japan Ambassador, Tokyo Tourism Ambassador, and Visiting Professor at Ritsumeikan University. He was selected by the Cabinet Office as one of the Japanese “actively sharing Japan with the world,” and has received the Tokiko Iwatani Award (Encouragement Prize) and the Yokohama Cultural Award.
■ Aki Shibuya
Raised in New York, she returned to Japan after graduating from Smith College.
Trained at the “Kita-ku Tsuka Kohei Gekidan,” she has worked as a radio personality for FM Yokohama for 11 years, not limited to acting. This spring, she graduated from NHK World, where she has been an anchor since 2015, and now works as a bilingual MC. She also appears as a journalist on "Spotlight," the YouTube channel of Japan Today, a news website that provides English-language commentary on current events in Japan for foreign audiences.
They will help create a spectacular award ceremony for audiences around the world.
